Not all e-commerce web sites convert visitors to sales with the same efficiency. Some are many times more efficient that others that may look just the same. There are some important secrets to master here. There is a tendency to think of an e-commerce web site as a commodity - something that you can buy almost anywhere and is pretty much interchangeable with one that you get from another company in terms of how well it turns visitors into sales. The truth is, sadly, very different. Similar looking eCommerce web sites vary in how effective they are at turning visitors to sales by a factor of more than ten. Just to make that clear - there is over 1000% difference. That is why many companies with a web site will say - "we've tried the web - its not really where our core customers are" while others in the same sector may be turning over £5000 a DAY on their sites with high levels of profitability. Even after sales some sites will streamline administration, ordering and back end expenses saying 20% of the order cost or more in the long term while others - because they don't do this - will be an ongoing burden to their owners who will be reluctant to let them grow. Sorry to say - if someone says "we have too many orders" this is not a great success of marketing and web site - its a great failure of their sites back end.
